Maintenance and Care
Effective Methods for Cleaning Wood Cabinets
Wood cabinets, whether situated in kitchens or bathrooms, are prone to accumulating dirt and stains over time. With appropriate care and maintenance, even cabinets affected by food spills, water exposure, or minor scratches can be restored to excellent condition.
Cleaning and Polishing Wood Cabinets
For routine maintenance or to address minor spills, use a clean, soft, lint-free cotton cloth to gently remove dust and surface debris. For more thorough cleaning, prepare a mild solution of dish soap and warm water. When using commercial cleaning products, always perform a spot test on a discreet area to ensure compatibility and prevent discoloration.
Removing Oil and Grease from Wood Cabinets
Oil and grease residue can damage cabinet finishes if not addressed promptly. Wipe spills immediately using a damp cloth. For stubborn oil-based stains, clean with a warm water and dish soap mixture, then thoroughly dry with a towel to prevent moisture-related damage.
Cleaning Glass Inserts on Wood Cabinets
When cleaning glass panels on wooden cabinetry, avoid using standard wood cleaners or conventional glass cleaners directly on the surface, as these may cause smudging or discoloration. Opt for an ammonia-free glass cleaner applied onto a cloth rather than sprayed directly, minimizing contact with the wood edges.
Repairing Scratches, Gouges, and Nicks on Wood Cabinets
To maintain color consistency, use manufacturer-recommended Touch-Up Kits tailored to your cabinet type. For minor surface imperfections, a Touch-Up Pen can effectively conceal the blemishes. For deeper cuts or gouges, apply tinted putty as directed to fill and color the damaged areas.
Preventing Light Damage
Natural wood cabinetry is susceptible to darkening with prolonged exposure to sunlight, while painted cabinets may fade. Protect your interior by using window treatments such as shades or drapes to reduce direct sunlight exposure.
Preventing Water and Moisture Damage
Do not leave damp towels or cloths draped over wooden cabinets, as excess moisture can harm the finish. Always dry surfaces thoroughly after cleaning. In bathrooms, ensure adequate ventilation following showers or baths to minimize the risk of mold growth and moisture-related deterioration.
Avoiding Heat Damage in Kitchen Cabinets
Wood cabinets are designed to withstand normal kitchen temperatures; however, the high heat generated by the oven’s self cleaning function can damage nearby cabinets and hardware when used frequently. Exercise caution and maintain appropriate clearance around heat sources.
Implementing these best practices will help preserve the beauty and durability of your wood cabinetry for years to come.
Warranty
5-Year Limited Warranty
Eon Cabinetry warrants to the original end user that cabinetry products provided, assembled, or installed by Eon Cabinetry shall be free from defects in material and craftsmanship under normal use and service for a period of five (5) years from the purchase date. This warranty is only applicable to products used for residential purposes. No representatives of Eon Cabinetry or any others can alter or modify this warranty by any means.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage, or defects caused by accidents, misuse, abuse, lack of necessary maintenance, or environmental conditions. This warranty shall become void for any alteration, modification, improper installation, or improper handling/storage done by non-Eon Cabinetry-related employees. This warranty does not cover any labor expenses.
Eon Cabinetry reserves the right to either repair or replace existing products with an equivalent product covered by this warranty. Some replacement parts are subject to availability and may differ from the original parts received. The defective product must be returned to issue a replacement. Eon Cabinetry will cover the expenses for all parts or products. All labor-related expenses, such as the cost of removing and reinstalling products or countertops, plumbing, and electrical work, are the customer’s responsibility.
Eon Cabinetry uses natural woods in all cabinetry styles. The color and grain pattern in each wood can vary depending on its age and environmental factors. Different lighting (artificial/natural), moisture, temperature, cleaners, smoke, etc., may cause a cabinet to darken or mellow over time. Climate conditions can also cause natural woods to expand or contract to varying degrees. Those natural occurrences are to be expected. Therefore, this warranty does not cover the natural aging or darkening/mellowing of wood color, the inherent growth characteristics of, or variation in wood.
To exercise this warranty, please contact Eon Cabinetry in writing or by email to info@eoncabinetry.com. Please include all defective parts or products and proof-of-purchase documentation.
